For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways." Psalm 91:11
It was Friday at 2:00 p.m. Pent up in my home office studying, I had not been out of the house for 5 days. I had been preparing for an important certification exam for 18 months and I needed to run to the drugstore for a couple of things.
Got in the car, turned the key in the ignition to start the car, and then nothing happened. No dashboard lights, no sounds, just dead silence. "How will I get to my exam tomorrow morning at 7:00,?" I thought. My mind stalled into neutral and I felt a panic coming over me.
As I went back in the house, my eyes fell on a card that my mom had sent me the day before. It read: "May there always be an angel by your side." As my heart calmed down and stopped racing, I prayed. I called my mechanic and asked him what to do.
To my surprise and to my delight, he told me he would come over in 30 min. and check out the car. I could barely believe my ears! A house-call from my always-busy mechanic, coming right to my front door? Unheard of, I thought! After installing a new battery for me (I had only 3 days left on the old-battery warranty), I asked him how much I owed him. "Forty dollars," he said. Whew! I knew I would get to my exam on time after all.
Can you guess what my mechanic's name is? It's Angel!
